NFS was established in 1960 as a FBO at National Airport located in the North end of Toledo. Basic services included standard FBO services and flight training.<\/p>\n

This was the first year they started working on engines. Oddly enough, it was a hot section on a PT-6 engine.<\/p>\n

In 1969 they moved to a new location at Toledo Express Airport located in Swanton, Ohio. Services included sales of Beechcraft and Twin Commander aircraft, aircraft maintenance, charter services, and flight training as well as FBO line services.<\/p>\n

[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1972″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]It was this year that the company was acquired by Tom Wiles who flew the charters and sold the aircraft.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1973″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]NFS became a Rockwell Commander Dealer and a Twin Commander Service Center.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1980″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]NFS became a Gulfstream Commander Service Center after Gulfstream purchased the company from Rockwell.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1981″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Began overhauls and repairs on Garrett (Honeywell) TPE331 engines.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1989″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Established a NFS turbine shop in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1990″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]After another ownership change from Gulfstream to Twin Commander, NFS becomes a Twin Commander Service Center.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1992″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Established National Flight Sales Corporation in Tampa, Florida.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1996″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Became a Twin Commander 10T and Grand Renaissance Service Center and opened an engine shop in San Antonio, TX.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1997″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]Relocated their component shop to the Eber Road facility.[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”1998″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n

Opened a full MRO facility in Lakeland, Florida at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.<\/p>\n

NFS Celebrates their 50th Anniversary. Honeywell authorizes NFS to repair and overhaul TPE331-14\/15 engines. NFS adopts Two Year Warranty on Workmanship.<\/p>\n

As of October 31, 2023, National Flight, one of the region’s premier Fixed Base Operators (FBO),\u00a0 announced the closure of its FBO facility. This strategic move is intended to amplify the company\u2019s commitment to providing best-in-class aviation services and further consolidating its position in the aviation industry.<\/p>\n

National Flight Services adds to their extensive capabilities list by adding helicopter repair and maintenance as well as avionics services!<\/p>\n

After years of quality workmanship and expertise in the TPE331 turboprop engine business National Flight Services has built a large and loyal customer base who are looking for other services. This is the mission NFS wants to take, while adding to the already extensive capabilities list. Prior to ownership as manager of the Helicopter Division for NFS, Herb started from scratch and built a formidable business with helicopter repair in less than two years. To compliment the helicopter work he built and expanded an avionics department who has several teams that travel the U.S. doing troubleshooting and installs. NFS now has major helicopter fleet operators scheduling business.<\/p>\n
