Paint Services

From the mild to the wild,
National Flight paints them all…

We understand the pride you have in your aircraft. Let National Flight make your aircraft look new again - better than when it rolled off the factory line.

Design Selection

Wild Commander Paint Every National Flight paint project is customized to your specifications. Our Customer Service Representative will discuss all aspects of the job with you - paint colors and schemes, body and corrosion repairs, and optional items involved in the paint process will all be covered. We’ll work with you to develop a paint scheme that suits you - whether it be a “mild” standard factory design or a “wild” paint scheme as can be found on websites such as www.schemedesigners.com or www.aircraftcolor.com – or even your own design. We’ll offer suggestions, assist you in your choice, and prepare a detailed price quote. We can also arrange to have the interior of your aircraft re-furbished at the same time – saving you time and money.

Our Process

ImageThe first step is stripping. Flight controls are removed and all critical areas are protected. National Flight uses an environmentally friendly, peroxide based aircraft paint stripper that dissolves the bond between the paint and the aluminum aircraft skin.

After the aircraft is stripped to bare metal, we acid wash the skin and apply alodine in preparation for the corrosion primer. Careful attention to these first critical steps guarantees that proper paint adhesion will be achieved.

Next, the corrosion primer is applied and body and corrosion repairs are completed. National Flight employs highly trained, experienced A&P mechanics that are available to repair any major corrosion damage that may involve skin replacement or patches. Upon completion of any necessary bodywork, high fill primer is used to fill any imperfections in the skin.

Finally, it’s time for the base coat! Your aircraft is rolled into our ventilated, cross draft paint booth and painted with the color of your choosing. After curing, stripe layout begins. Once all of your favorite colors are painted on the aircraft, the painting is DONE!

Your aircraft now undergoes final detailing including edge sealing cabin and cockpit windows, polishing bright work, balancing and reinstalling flight controls, and applying all required placards to the aircraft. Last, a detailed entry is made in your logbook that includes all paint manufacturers and color codes to be used for future reference.

The Finished Product

We wish our customers years of satisfaction with their beautiful new paint scheme.
