Offering the World's Most Widely Accepted WING REINFORCEMENT For Your King Air, Queen Air or Merlin II
YOUR IN-FLIGHT INSURANCE
The Saunders Spar Strap is an F.A.A. approved wing spar reinforcement designed to reduce the possibility of wing separation in all models of King Air and Queen Air Aircraft. It is also designed to prolong the life of the existing wing spar structure.
How the modification is performed - Attached only at each end and covered by a shallow fairing, the strap literally ties the wings together and relieves the original structure of 30% of the load.
- The strap is bolted through a secondary doubler to the main doubler with 20 shear bolts on each wing panel
- A stainless steel strap is fitted snugly below the fuselage and wing center section, directly beneath the front spar. NO LOSS OF PERFORMANCE OCCURS DUE TO STRAP INSTALLATION.
- External doublers are riveted to the lower surface of each outer wing panel. Nothing attaches to the existing main spar. The main doublers are approximately 8 1/2 feet long and spread the load over a large area through the existing wing skin, ribs and stringers. The load per rivet is less than 20 pounds.
THE BENEFITS ARE
* Provides a redundant loadpath, that meets transport category design requirements while reducing the probability of wing separation in the event of spar failure, bathtub fitting, bolt or nut. * Significantly reduces wing inspection requirements * reduces the stress level in the existing spar by 30%, thereby extending the fatigue life indefinitely * Provides a much greater margin of safety against overload failure in severe turbulence * Does not obstruct inspection. The strap incorporates elongated holes which permit removal of the attach bolt without removing the entire strap assembly. In the event that the strap must be removed, it takes approximately two man hours.
THE SAUNDERS STRAP PROVIDES MAXIMUM STRUCTURAL SECURITY AT AN INCREDIBLE VALUE
* The Modification is approximately one fifth the cost of replacing a cracked spar, and less than 1% of the cost of a King Air 200.
* Since the modification extends the life of the wing spar structure, it pays for itself in lowered inspection and replacement costs.
* The modification provides a much greater return on investment than any insurance policy.
THE MOST WIDELY ACCEPTED and SERVICE PROVEN WING REINFORCEMENT KIT AVAILABLE
* Certified by the F.A.A. and Canadian Department of Transport for all models of the BEECH 99, King Air, Queen Air and Merlin II aircraft
* Over 3 million flying hours have been accumulated on modified Beech 99 aircraft in some of the severest fatigue environments. The strap has provided the ultimate in safety and completely solved the problem of cracked spars.
* Similar Modifications installed on 500 Beech 18 aircraft have accumulated approximately 4 million flight hours and effectively eliminated wing failures.
* In static tests on a King Air wing by the F.A.A. with both lower wing bolts removed, the strap demonstrated the capability of maintaining structural integrity at three G's.
* It is a modern trouble free system embodying the latest "Fail Safe" design philosophy.
* The simplicity and reliability of the system reduce down time and maintenance cost significantly, and reduce most future overhaul costs.
* The emergency system of the mechanical gear is only effective in the case of motor failure. Any mechanical failure, such as chain breakage or gear box seizure, will render the emergency system useless (as numerous owners and pilots have discovered). The completely independent, nitrogen operated, emergency extension system of the AVIADESIGN gear is simple and absolutely reliable.
* The quiet smooth operation eliminates gear in motion noise.
